Newcastle eyeing Yann Sommer

An update has emerged on Newcastle United and their pursuit of landing a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window…

What’s the talk?

talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has named Yann Sommer as a player he has been told is on the Magpies’ radar as they eye up competition for Martin Dubravka.

The journalist has also cast doubt over the possibility of Burnley’s number one making his way to Tyneside in the coming months.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I’m not sure Nick Pope is good enough with the ball at his feet. They’re looking for someone that can play out from the back, that’s always been his Achilles heel.

“The name I was given this week was Yann Sommer at Monchengladbach, the Swiss international. He’s got a year left on his contract so wouldn’t cost a lot of money. I’d definitely keep an eye on that one.”

Forget Dean Henderson

One goalkeeper who had been linked with a move to St. James’ Park was Manchester United’s Dean Henderson but it is now time to forget about the England international.

The £20m brute, who was once dubbed “insane” by teammate Sander Berge, did not play a single minute of Premier League football last season and has only played more than 15 league games in a top-flight campaign once in his career.

He is relatively inexperienced at the top level and this is why Sommer can be a better signing for the Magpies ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

The Switzerland international has played 30+ Bundesliga matches in each of the last eight seasons and this shows that he is experienced and knows what it takes to play in a major European league. He was once hailed as “one of the best” in the Geman top-flight by Adi Hutter and his statistics show that he has been superb in the division.

In the 2021/22 campaign, he averaged an excellent SofaScore rating of 6.95 as he was named in the Team of the Week seven times in 32 appearances. This shows that he was consistently brilliant between the sticks for Monchengladbach as he showcased his quality in goal.

Howe will, therefore, love the club’s interest in Sommer over Henderson as he is an in-form, experienced, option who he would be able to rely upon for Newcastle next season.

The 33-year-old would be able to provide Dubravka with significant competition, as he has proven that he can be an outstanding performer in a major league, and the Toon boss would surely be delighted to have both players pushing each other for a starting place.

Everton: James Tarkowski deal close to being announced

Fabrizio Romano has dropped an Everton transfer claim which will please both Frank Lampard and the Premier League club’s supporters.

What’s the word?

The Italian journalist tweeted: “No changes on James Tarkowski deal. Medical already completed one week ago, full agreement with Everton on personal terms and agent fees. Official statement pending.”

This is great news for Lampard, and it now seems just a matter of time before the ex-Burnley defender joins up with the Toffees’ squad in time for pre-season training.

Tarkowski can improve Everton’s defence

Having endured a tough start to his time in charge at Everton, Lampard managed to guide the club to top-flight safety following a 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace in their penultimate fixture of the season.

This won’t be enough to keep the supporters happy, though, and the 43-year-old faces a hugely important first month or so at the start of next season to prove to the fans that he is the right man to take the club forward.

Improvement is needed all over the pitch, especially in defence, as the Toffees conceded 66 goals in the Premier League last term, the fifth-worst record in the division.

With the signing of Tarkowski imminent, he could make a massive difference at the heart of the Everton backline, and that is exactly what Lampard needs.

Despite Burnley’s relegation, the 29-year-old ranked first in the squad with a rating of 6.97 on WhoScored, while also winning an incredible 4.4 aerial duels per match, the most of anyone at Turf Moor in 2021/22.

Compared to positional peers in the top five European leagues, the 29-year-old ranks in the top 1% for blocks (2.67 per 90) and in the top 3% for clearances (6.26 per 90), as per FBRef.

Tarkowski also won 42 tackles last season, more than any Everton centre-back during the same time period; along with winning 171 aerial duels over the course of the campaign, 50 more than Michael Keane, who led the way for Everton.

These figures clearly show that the defender could be a crucial signing for Lampard as the Toffees manager looks to improve on the disappointing 16th-place finish from 2021/22.

Financial Intelligence & Discipline: Two Characteristics That Set Bettors Apart

Betting means different things to different bettors. To some, it’s a sacred art that thrives on a seasoned bettor’s moods and feelings, guiding them towards what entities to make and avoid. Others see it as a science with a method to deconstruct the winning potential of every betting stock before locking it in.

There is no single right way to place a bet. Whatever way you see it fuels your betting decisions. Nevertheless, there are two essential characteristics you should have as better whether you see it as a faith game or a ‘strictly numbers’ business. These essentials are financial intelligence and discipline. This article delves into these two betting characteristics and how they can set bettors apart.

Financial Intelligence

Betting is a serious business that has existed since ancient times. Nowadays, the betting industry is worth over £60 billion in value. Out of the numerous bettors who stake their bets every day, there is a reason why some bettors win, and others lose. Intelligence counts, even though it’s not easy to figure out. So, what is financial intelligence, and how can it play a role in your win rate?

Financial intelligence is a broad concept with many facets. At the core of this concept is a bettor’s ability to leverage betting insights to guide decision-making. Betting insights can take many forms, including statistics, history, etc. You can also talk of more qualitative options like the presence and absence of certain key players or statements about a game.

Multiple outcomes can play out in a game. The bettor’s work is to find the needle in the betting haystack, that single odd that can top the night. Using these insights may not guarantee your find. But the extensiveness of your insight generation efforts can afford you an easier search and point you in the right direction.

Today, technology has made it possible to apply financial intelligence to your betting efforts. Live gaming gives bettors more options even in open play. Using financial intelligence strategies to fish your odds and stake your bets also involves specific terms and rules, including:

Keeping betting roll separate from life roll.

Do not mix business with life matters. This financial intelligence principle applies to several money-making disciplines. Ensure to keep your bankroll separate from critical life expenses like rent money, tuition, etc. Whatever betting option you choose and no matter how sure your odds are.

Betting within your means

Financial intelligence demands you to stake your bet according to your account size. You can use the zero matching strategy to place your wagers. Choose wagers in the hundreds amount column if your betting account runs in the thousands amount column. You can choose £1000 wager units if you have about £10,000 in your account.

If you’re choosing parlay bets, ensure to keep parlays as a fraction of one of your regular one-unit wagers. Parlay bets can be attractive but highly dangerous. For example, making your parlay bet equivalent to your wager unit can be an irresponsible bankroll decision.

Being smart about capital allocation.

Diversifying your bet options can be a great way to manage your risks and it pays to think both short and long term when allocating capital. Long-term bets are more risky and rewarding compared to short term bets. But you can diversify your bets based on your financial goals.

If you’re looking for quick turnaround cash, you can also focus on live bets. Furthermore, you can leverage opportunities like tax day for higher Roth IRA if you’re one for long-term bets like Tom Brady and the Bucs winning the Super Bowl next year.

Understanding the importance of line shopping.

Always focus on your Return on Investment (ROI). You may insist that Brady returning to the pitch is a big game-winning chance. Suppose you’re considering 7-1 odds on the one hand and 8.5-1 on the other hand. Which option will you go for? At the end of the day, the latter should give you more returns even if your dreams don’t actualize.

All in all, financial intelligence also moves with emotional intelligence. You’ll need to navigate the high and lows in the betting world. Don’t lose your head when you get the biggest hit in your betting career. The same applies to your reaction when dealing with your losses. For the most part, becoming neutral will be your best bet to deal with emotions as you advance in your career.

Discipline

How you build your sports betting career can determine your overall success and how long your stint will be. Motivation and the urge to make money are all essential. However, the lack of discipline has cost many bettors their careers. But why is this?

Well, betting is a rocky journey. It’s easy to fall out or lose focus after a bitter loss. But losing doesn’t necessarily mean your strategy is useless. In the same way, changing it doesn’t guarantee your next win. For instance, will you double down or stick to your one-unit bet for your next attempt if you lose back-to-back wagers? Should you switch from MLB to NBA because the action isn’t enough for you?

These questions can be hard to answer, and you need to consider multiple best and worst-case scenarios before drawing your conclusion. That’s where you need discipline. It takes a significant level of discipline to stay true to your strategy, even if it doesn’t amount to the desired result early on.

Consistency is another benefit of discipline bettors can enjoy. Discipline influences your efforts, helping you not to force an action because you’re on a cold streak or need to make back your losses quickly.

Even though financial intelligence and discipline are the most important factors you need as a bettor, nurturing them can be daunting. Remember to give yourself time to understand the rudiments of these two functions to make things more convenient.

Fabrizio Romano shares latest Richarlison transfer news

Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest news on Richarlison’s proposed exit from Everton.

The Lowdown: Financial situation

Whilst the Toffees are reluctant to sell their star player this summer, especially with having narrowly avoided relegation last season, the Blues may still be forced into letting the Brazil international go.

The Merseyside outfit must raise funds to balance their books in order to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules relating to debts.

So far, Everton have held strong on to their £60m valuation of the 25-year-old.

The Latest: Romano’s update

Romano has now shared the latest news on Richarlison’s transfer saga. Taking to Twitter, the journalist claimed:

“Tottenham are progressing in talks with Everton for Richarlison. Negotiations are already well advanced on personal terms, while discussions between clubs will continue this week.

“Winks has also been part of the talks – structure of the deal not agreed yet.”

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/everton-news-7/” title=”Everton news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Verdict: Huge loss

Whilst the winger was the Toffees’ top scorer in the league last season with ten goals, the Brazilian also contributed to other areas of the pitch.

When compared with positional peers across Europe over the past year, Richarlison ranks in the 99th percentile for blocks, in the 95th percentile for tackles and in the 93rd percentile for interceptions (via FB Ref).

This illustrates how much of an effect the 25-year-old has on Everton, leading the press from the front and never letting opponents breathe, especially at Goodison Park, where he is beloved for that very reason.

His departure would be a massive blow for the club.

Darwin Nunez vs Erling Haaland: Who will have the edge next season?

Last season’s titanic tussle for the title was decided by the finest of margins on a tense and dramatic final day of the Premier League. Three late goals at the Etihad sealed City’s comeback win over Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa and proved to be the deciding factor in sending the trophy to Manchester. Little had separated the sides all year but few would have anticipated the gripping finale that unfolded with the title’s destination still undecided with 80 minutes on the clock of the final game of the season. With Pep Guardiola’s men barely crossing the line ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side, both have looked to bolster their ranks with the superstars Darwin Nunez from Benfica and Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. Manchester City and Liverpool are set to renew their rivalry once again next season and with so little separating the two top-flight giants, who lay claim to the Premier League crown could come down to the exploits of these two blockbuster signings. According to odds sourced by Compare.bet, City are 4/7 to retain the title with Liverpool next in line at 9/4 to get their hands on the trophy. But who will come out on top?

New strikers fill a need

The £136 million strikers will be welcomed to Premier League turf in August and whilst the price tag is steep, both possess the quality to become prolific goalscorers in the English top flight in a hurry. Haaland made an impressive haul last term, racking up 29 goals from his 30 outings. While fewer than his tally of 41 the previous season to still manage nearly a goal a game after coming back from injury is a credit to his character. Meanwhile Nunez indicated his potential with 34 goals in 41 matches for Benfica last season, his performances earning him the Primeira Liga Golden Boot with ease. Their prowess in front of goal is clear to see but their value to each side is more than just raw goalscoring instinct; it’s the gap that they plug.

One of very few questions still looming over Guardiola’s side is their need for a pure striker. Aguero’s departure prompted concern that City might be a few goals short of reclaiming the title the following season, leading to the Harry Kane transfer saga last summer. 12 months on and there is little doubt they answered that question emphatically. City scored a total of 99 goals in 2021/22 as Guardiola favoured a false nine rotating Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva, with Gabriel Jesus used sparingly throughout the season. It’s no surprise with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez providing the creative spark in midfield that City have been able to capitalise up front this year despite their lack of an out-and-out goalscorer. Even so, it has remained a topic of discussion and labelled their one chink in the armour for quite some time. Haaland’s introduction to the City squad is surely the final step in silencing those doubters. He will unquestionably get great service and with his experience in the Bundesliga to date, there would be little surprise if he were to remain as prolific as City’s frontman.

Jurgen Klopp on the other hand opted to back a 22-year-old whose stock is on the rise and hoping his form translates to the pressure cooker of the Premier League. Haaland has tallied 114 goals over the course of the last three seasons compared with Nunez’s tally of 64 but the Uruguayan did outscore the Norwegian superstar last term and under Klopp’s instruction is only going to get better. It is unlikely to be a straightforward ascendancy to the starting lineup however as Klopp often favours a slow integration into the side meaning he will likely have to compete with Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota to lead the line. More significant though is the predicted departure of Sadio Mane. The Senegalese sensation has been outstanding since arriving at Anfield in 2016 scoring 120 times over the course of his six seasons on Merseyside. However, after months of speculation he is now set to leave for German powerhouse Bayern Munich for the reported fee of £42.5 million. The Uruguayan International is primed to fill his shoes and for the meantime puts a rest to insinuations that Liverpool’s attack will lack potency in the absence of the world class winger.

Who will live up to the price tag?

On the face of it Haaland seems the better value buy at £51 million having been up at the top of Europe’s goalscoring charts for the past three seasons. Nunez by comparison enjoyed an immensely successful season with Benfica in 2021/22 but is yet to hit the heights City’s new signing has to date and has significantly less experience in one of Europe’s top five leagues. The jury’s still out on whether Nunez can maintain the level of goalscoring required for Liverpool to enjoy another run at the title. On the other hand, Haaland will be under no illusions that there is an expectation at City unrivalled by the vast majority of Europe’s elite. The 21-year-old will arrive at City having proven pedigree in top tier competition and with that comes pressure. While Nunez’s price tag of £85 million comes with it’s own challenges, it is unlikely to match the pressure Haaland will face coming to the Etihad. He will have to hit the ground running if he is to live up to his billing. There will also be a very mild concern that despite his young age he might have already hit his peak whereas Nunez might yet reach his best level. What will likely tip the scales in Liverpool’s or Man City’s favour will be how many chances the two create. Nunez slots nicely into Klopp’s fluid attacking style that will have the Liverpool boss hoping fills the void left by Mane, but the Norwegian’s chance creation is not to be overlooked having created 25 opportunities over the course of 27 games in league and European competition last season.

It is as close a contest as could be imagined. They’re both prime contenders for the golden boot next year and whoever wins out could well decide the destination of the Premier League trophy come May 2023. In a callback to title races and iconic battles of the past, like Ruud Van Nistelrooy vs Thierry Henry, Sergio Aguero vs Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane vs Jamie Vardy, a captivating contest lies ahead.

Aston Villa’s pre-season: How to watch every game this summer

Aston Villa’s 2022/23 campaign will see Steven Gerrard take charge for his first full term at Villa Park, and he will be well aware of just how important pre-season is. It gives him the chance to decide his strongest 11, whilst also handing new signings the chance to fully integrate themselves into the squad.

A good pre-season can lead to an excellent Premier League campaign – something that those at Villa Park will be desperate for after an underwhelming 14th-place finish last season. As they prepare for the new Premier League season, the Midlands club will have five games to get up to speed.

Aston Villa’s pre-season schedule

Saturday 9 July 1pm BST: Walsall vs Aston Villa

Aston Villa kick off their pre-season with a trip to the Poundland Bescot Stadium, where they will face League Two outfit Walsall, with kick off taking place at 1pm BST.

Monday 17 July 5:35am BST: Aston Villa vs Leeds United

Next up for Gerrard’s side in pre-season is a game against fellow Premier League outfit Leeds United. And it’ll be an early start for Villa fans, with kick off scheduled for 5:35am. The game is set to take place at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.

Wednesday 20 July 10:45am BST: Brisbane Roar vs Aston Villa

Three days after playing Leeds, Aston Villa take on Brisbane Roar at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium, with the kick off set for 10:45am BST as Gerrard’s side continue their tour of Australia.

Saturday 23 July 10:45am BST: Aston Villa vs Manchester United

Whether it’s a friendly or competitive game, Steven Gerrard vs Manchester United in some capacity is always entertaining. In this instance, it is a friendly with Aston Villa taking on Manchester United at the Optus Stadium in Perth to close their trip to Australia.

Saturday 30 July 5pm BST: Rennes vs Aston Villa

To end their pre-season, Villa take a trip to France to face Rennes at Roazhon Park, with the kick off time set for 5pm BST. Fans will be hoping that, by this point, the players are back to full fitness and sharpness ahead of the start of the Premier League season.

How to watch Aston Villa’s pre-season fixtures online

On Villa TV, fans have the option to buy a five-match package, which will come with 12 months of access to VillaTV+ for £44.99. Meanwhile, a match pass for the one Walsall game is £4.99. Rangers can land their own Kaka in Gio Reyna

Glasgow Rangers have enjoyed an impressive start to the summer transfer window as they have brought four first-team players to Ibrox so far.

Gio van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson have snapped up deals for John Souttar, who signed a pre-contract in January, Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence, and Rabbi Matondo to bolster the squad.

Their business may not be done yet, though, as they continue to be linked with players around the globe, with the window not slamming shut until the end of next month.

Journalist Manuel Veth recently claimed that the Gers are eyeing up a potential loan deal to sign Giovanni Reyna, whose father – Claudio – played for the club, from Borussia Dortmund.

The reporter added that a move is unlikely at this moment in time, but Ross Wilson has around six weeks to convince the German side to sanction the transfer.

If he can tempt them into sending the USA international to Ibrox then Gio van Bronckhorst could have his own version of Brazilian legend Kaka next season.

The official Bundesliga website compared him to the iconic attacking midfielder, stating: “His ability to run at top speed for extended periods, breaking into opposition boxes and scoring goals is more reminiscent of AC Milan and Brazil great, Kaka.”

Being compared to the retired maestro is high praise of Reyna as the Brazilian won the Ballon d’Or, the World Cup, and the Champions League during his career – making over 400 appearances for Real Madrid and Milan combined.

The Dortmund wizard’s former coach Lucien Favre once said that he has “something special” and talent scout Jack Kulig dubbed him a “highly creative” midfielder.

He has scored six goals and provided seven assists in 30 Bundesliga starts, along with four goals in 11 caps for the USA. This is an excellent return for a player playing at the top level as a teenager and shows that he is already capable of making an impact in the final third.

He can, therefore, be a goal-scoring and creative threat for the Gers from an attacking midfield position if he makes the move to Ibrox before the end of the window. This would make him van Bronckhorst’s own version of Kaka – who scored over 100 goals for Italian giants Milan during his career.

Wilson must now work hard to convince Dortmund that a season of playing regular football in Glasgow is the best next step for the £42k-per-week talent.

AND in other news, Rangers can land a masterclass by signing £500k gem who’d “hit the ground running”…

Newcastle to miss out on Armando Broja

A major claim has emerged on Newcastle United target Armando Broja and his immediate future in the summer transfer window…

What’s the talk?

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that their Premier League rivals West Ham are closing in on a swoop to sign the Albania international ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

He Tweeted: “West Ham and Chelsea are still in talks on final details of the deal like potential buy back clause or not, add ons… but the agreement for Armando Broja is really close and it will be permanent deal. Broja is now pushing, that’s why he’s flying back to England.”

The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has added that the Magpies are not going to attempt to hijack the transfer at the last minute.

Supporters will be gutted

This news will surely leave Toon supporters gutted as Broja would have been an exciting and excellent addition to Eddie Howe’s squad.

He enjoyed an eye-catching first season in the Premier League last term as he spent the campaign on loan at Southampton. The gem scored nine goals in all competitions for the Saints and found the back of the net six times in 21 league starts.

Broja has also scored four goals and assisted two in three starts for Albania in the UEFA Nations League and World Cup qualifiers since the start of 2021/22.

This means that he managed 13 goals and two assists in 27 starts for club and country, which shows that he has the quality to make an impact at the top end of the pitch. He has shown that he can perform in the Premier League, albeit not to amazing heights yet, and he still has plenty of room left to grow and develop in the years to come.

At the age of 20, Broja is in the infancy of his professional career and has the potential to become a top striker in England, given that he has already shown promising signs in limited game time in the top-flight so far.

Newcastle would have been signing a player with the ability to score goals and bolster the attack in the immediate future, whilst also investing in a talented youngster for the future.

Therefore, supporters will be gutted by the news that he is on his way to West Ham as it means that they will not be able to watch him in action for the Magpies next season, and in the years to come.

West Ham: Romano drops Filip Kostic update

Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update on the future of reported West Ham United transfer target Filip Kostic.

What’s the latest?

In a recent post on Twitter, the Italian journalist revealed that Rob Newman has now scheduled a new round of talks with the Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back and his representatives in order to discuss personal terms ahead of a potential €15m (£13m) move to the London Stadium this summer.

The transfer insider went on to state that Eintracht have received the Premier League club’s bid for the defender, and the decision as to whether the 29-year-old does indeed join West Ham ahead of the 2022/23 campaign is now solely down to the Serbia international himself.

In his tweet, Romano said: “West Ham have already scheduled a new round of talks with Filip Kostic in order to discuss personal terms, after an official bid. His agent, now busy with the Scamacca deal, will be in London very soon. Eintracht have received the West Ham bid, it’s up to the player.”

Supporters will love Romano’s update

Considering just how big a coup Kostic’s signing would be for West Ham, Romano’s latest update that Newman is set for further talks with the 29-year-old concerning a switch to east London this summer is sure to have left the London Stadium faithful buzzing.

Indeed, over his 31 Bundesliga appearances in 2021/22, the £21.6m-rated wing-back was in breathtaking form for Frankfurt, scoring four goals, providing nine assists and creating 16 big chances for his team-mates. He also took 51 shots, made 88 key passes – the most of any player in the division – and completed 26 dribbles over the course of the season.

These returns saw the forward-thinking £43k-per-week defender average a simply sensational SofaScore match rating of 7.25, ranking him as Oliver Glasner’s best performer in the league and the 15th-best player in the German top flight as a whole last time out.

The 48-cap international also highly impressed over his 12 appearances in Eintracht’s Europa League-winning campaign, scoring three goals, registering six assists and creating four big chances for his team-mates, along with taking 2.7 shots, making 2.1 key passes and completing 0.8 dribbles per game.

These returns saw the 29-year-old average a quite extraordinary SofaScore match rating of 7.33, with his exceptional displays seeing him named the tournament’s Player of the Season.

As such, it is clear to see just how exciting an addition Kostic would make to David Moyes’ options at left wing-back ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, leading us to believe that Newman simply must do everything he can to convince the Serbian of a switch to the London Stadium this summer.

Alan Myers drops Everton transfer claim

Everton’s transfer business so far this summer has done little to reassure fans that they won’t be embroiled in another relegation battle this season.

The Toffees have so far only signed one player, as James Tarkowski joined on a free transfer from Burnley, while star man Richarlison moved to Tottenham Hotspur in a £60m deal.

You would have hoped that the Merseyside outfit would have had replacement options ready after their windfall from the Brazilian, but there has been very little action since his exit, and it seems as if new signings are not imminent.

What’s the word?

According to Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers, Everton fans shouldn’t expect any new signings until the team returns from their pre-season tour in the United States.

In full, he said: “I wouldn’t expect any incomings until the team are back from the states, nothing imminent.”

Lampard’s side are currently in the USA and looked uninspiring in a 2-0 defeat against Arsenal recently.

They kick off the season against Chelsea in less than three weeks and supporters will be desperate to see some new additions before then, otherwise, it promises to be another long hard season for the Toffees.

Supporters will be gutted

The Toffees have so far been slow to find a replacement for Richarlison and risk starting the season with the injury-prone Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Salomon Rondon as their only natural options up front.

Meanwhile, fellow relegation candidates Leeds United, Fulham and Nottingham Forest have all arguably strengthened their squads with new signings ahead of the new season, which does not bode well for Lampard’s side.

Last summer saw Everton spend just £1.8m on transfer fees, as Demarai Gray joined from Bayer Leverkusen, and that led to a disastrous campaign.

[freshpress-quiz id=“638086″]

So to be in a similar position this summer, where they are yet to spend a penny on transfer fees, is baffling, and Albert Einstein perhaps put it best when he defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Everton have spent poorly under the ownership of Farhad Moshiri and although the fanbase will be keen to see those mistakes learnt from, spending more than £1.8m would certainly help the club in their bid for survival.
