Dentro dessa transação, o Inter ganhou algo próximo a R$ 2 milhões.

Eastern Province women break record with 464-run victory

The phrase ‘men against boys’ is in desperate need of change to a more gender-unbiased alternative (women against girls doesn’t quite sound right). Four hundred and sixty four – not the number of people in the stadium, not even the aggregate number of runs in the match – but the margin of victory for Eastern Province women against Kei women in a domestic match in South Africa.Eastern Province amassed 494 in their fifty overs in the Women’s Provincial League group game – a record for the tournament – with Claire Terblanche smacking 181 and Marizanne Kapp getting 163. It was always going to be a testing total for Kei, but their resistance was not just meek, it was non-existent. They rolled over for 30, with Kapp taking 6 for 6 in seven overs.Unfortunately for Kei, this wasn’t just a freak off day. In their first game of the season, in October 2010, they were hammered by 306 runs by South Western Districts. On that occasion South Western Districts had been slightly less merciless with the bat, scoring 329, but only allowed Kei 11.3 overs at the crease before bowling them out for 23.In fact, the League has seen several ridiculously one-sided results. In November last year, Gauteng trounced Limpopo by 302 runs, scoring 365 in an innings that saw Limpopo use nine bowlers, none of whom went for less than seven runs an over. Limpopo’s innings of 63 in that match was inflated by 28 extras. Gauteng hadn’t been that generous in the team’ first meeting in October, when they gave away just six extras, bowled Limpopo out for 30 and chased the score in 7.4 overs.Women’s international cricket has seen some maulings too. In 1997, New Zealand beat Pakistan by 408 runs, and there have been three more matches which have seen victory margins of more than 300 runs.Four hundred and sixty four, though, will be difficult to match. But it’s not completely inconceivable. Kei still have seven more matches to play this season, including another encounter against Eastern Province, and two against the leaders of their West/East group – Boland Women.

Unexpected call but easy decision – John Wright

John Wright may have had just 36 hours to make a decision after getting the unexpected call to take charge of the New Zealand team, but has said it was an easy call to make.”I thought once Mark [Greatbatch] got the opportunity that’s probably it,” Wright told the . “My appointment was very sudden and unexpected. But it wasn’t that difficult a choice.”To be honest a day into the job you think, given the track record of some of our coaches, it’s a pretty demanding task. You get a honeymoon period when people say nice things, and then you hope results go your way.”Wright was hugely successful as India’s first foreign coach, in the early 2000s, when he catalysed the improvement in the side’s overseas’ record, and oversaw their march to the 2003 World Cup final. Following that stint, Wright had several coaching offers but refused them all until his decision to join New Zealand, who are currently going through a miserable run of form.”When I finished in India I was pretty burnt out,” Wright said. “I needed a spell [away from the game]. I had quite a few offers in that period and there were a couple I thought a lot about but they just weren’t right. Then I started working for New Zealand Cricket putting together a replacement structure for the academy, and a winter programme for our promising kids coming through the ranks.”New Zealand have lost 11 straight one-dayers, including clean sweeps in Bangladesh and in India, leaving their World Cup preparations in complete disarray. Despite the desperate situation, Wright plans to remain in the background – a style that worked well when he was with India – and guide the side past the troubled times.”I will keep things very simple. There’ll be a period of getting to know each other. With any change it takes a bit of settling down. We’ll sit down and have a chat and go out with a simple game plan and see where we get to. I’ve always tried to help players understand what needs to be achieved to win games. That’s simple stuff.”But you don’t want to tell them how to do it because the good ones work it out for themselves. Coaching’s not about telling or ordering. It’s more about helping create an environment where good players who want to learn can get on.”Wright’s laidback approach to coaching has always earned its share of criticism, and he hopes to respond by producing results. “I’ve got a pretty good understanding of myself and I expect to be described in all sorts of ways in the next 15 months or so. But in the end you’re judged by the progress you make. When I finish this job, I just hope I’ve made a difference. Then people can judge you.”

Ryder and Williamson defy India

Jesse Ryder and Kane Williamson batted with assurance of gnarled pros to steer New Zealand clamber out of trouble to a position where a first-innings lead is a possibility

Jesse Ryder, playing his first Test in 14 months, and Kane Williamson, playing his first Test, batted with the assurance of gnarled pros to help New Zealand clamber out of trouble to a position where they have an outside chance of a first-innings lead. The prospect of New Zealand being asked to bat again had loomed large at lunch, after they lost both Brendon McCullum and Ross Taylor in the space of six runs when they were less than halfway to the follow-on mark.Ryder and Williamson put on 194 – New Zealand’s second-highest stand for the fifth wicket – as India’s bowlers toiled for more than two sessions without success. It was only in the final over of the day that India broke the partnership. Two deliveries after Ryder brought up his third Test century – all of which have been against India – with a carve through cover, Sreesanth got one to nip past Ryder’s bat and into the pad. By then, New Zealand had belied expectations that they would be rolled over by the world’s No. 1 side.Smart Stats

Ross Taylor has 356 runs in his last four innings against India with two centuries and one half-century.

VVS Laxman took his 120th catch in Tests, bringing him level with Ian Botham and Colin Cowdrey in the list of fielders with the most Test catches. He is the second among Indians in the list, behind Rahul Dravid who has 198.

The 194-run partnership between Jesse Ryder and Kane Williamson is New Zealand’s highest for the fifth wicket against India. Jesse Ryder has been involved in two century partnerships for the fifth wicket against India.

Williamson became the sixth New Zealand batsman to score a half-century on debut against India and the first to do it in India since 1965.

Ryder’s average of 52.68 is the highest among all New Zealand batsmen who have scored at least 1000 Test runs.

The pair had just about survived a nervy six-over spell before lunch, but were more confident after the break – Williamson began the session with a wonderful back-foot drive through cover. Both batsman were circumspect early on, with few attacking strokes against India’s senior bowlers Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan. They started to be more enterprising once Sreesanth and the part-time spinners – Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina – were brought on. Sreesanth nearly got the breakthrough when Ryder wafted at a wide delivery on 11, only for Rahul Dravid to fluff a shoulder-high chance at a wide first slip. After that, Ryder dished out plenty of boundaries, using his feet and punching Raina past mid-on, and pulling Sreesanth to midwicket. Williamson was also secure at the other end, using the sweep and cut whenever the spinners dropped short and made unfussy progress towards a half-century. India were out of ideas on a pitch with nothing it in to alarm the batsmen, and even called on Sachin Tendulkar for a rare bowling spell.Even with the second new ball, India couldn’t hassle batsmen much. Ojha got the odd one to turn and beat the outside edge, and India’s one big chance after tea was when Williamson nicked Zaheer to the keeper when on 56, but the umpire Kumar Dharmasena didn’t pick it up, to the disbelief of the Indians.New Zealand will be particularly pleased with the fightback since they had to battle spin for much of the innings. This is their first international match since the drubbing in the one-dayers in Bangladesh last month, a series in which their batting was clueless against Bangladesh’s army of slow bowlers.Ryder called for a runner before tea, as he was struggling with cramps, but even that didn’t hamper his footwork against spin. One of the highlights of his innings was when he sashayed down the track to loft Harbhajan over long-on for six.His partner Williamson had started his one-day career with a couple of ducks, but there was no such stuttering start to his Test career. Plenty of times he showed why people in New Zealand rave about his backfoot technique, rocking back to crash the ball through covers. It was a dead track, and it’s still early days, but New Zealand seem to have unearthed a solid batsman their traditionally fragile batting could do with.Even before Ryder and Williamson came together, the New Zealand batsmen were comfortable against everything thrown at them by India. McCullum, needing to justify his place as a specialist batsman after giving up wicketkeeping gloves earlier this year, continued the form that has resulted in his most productive phase in Tests – two hundreds and three half-centuries in his previous six Tests.Taylor barely scored in the V and used the cut to make much of his runs. It was only after McCullum began to open up with a lovely on-drive against the turn off Ojha and a powerful uppish cut off Zaheer more than half an hour after the start, that Taylor switched gears – a bunch of boundaries against Harbhajan bringing up his half-century. Soon after, he gifted his wicket, gently clipping Harbhajan to midwicket, and trudged off with his hand on his forehead.Worse followed as McCullum, hoping to become the first New Zealand opener since Stephen Fleming in 2004 to make a Test century on tour, fell to a classical spinner’s dismissal: a loopy delivery dipped in and spun sharply away, dragging him out of the crease and beating his bat, and MS Dhoni did the rest. New Zealand were in deep trouble at 137 for 4 before another big partnership made it their day.

Spurs: Italian outlet makes Rabiot claim

According to a report from Calciomercato.it (via Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur could look to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot during the summer transfer window.

The lowdown: Illustrious career

Already a six-time French Ligue 1 title winner with Paris Saint-Germain, Rabiot has added a Serie A crown and a UEFA Nations League success with France to a bulging trophy cabinet since making the switch to Italy.

Previously a member of the Manchester City youth setup, the 27-year-old has forged an impressive career and has amassed an impressive 364 club appearances for Europe’s elite.

Having conquered the domestic scene in France and Italy, a fresh report has suggested England could be next on Rabiot’s list…

The latest: Spurs in the mix

As per the Italian outlet, translated by SW, Tottenham are preparing a move should the 26-cap France star be made available.

Out of contract in 2023 (Transfermarkt), the report states that ‘a possible future away from Juventus and a flashback of Fabio Paratici should not be ruled out’ as the summer window approaches.

It’s claimed that Spurs’ transfer supremo Paratici, who originally took the cultured midfielder hailed as a ‘complete player’ by Italian legend Andrea Pirlo to Turin, could ‘attempt an offensive’ to sign Rabiot with €15million (£12.5million) enough to get the deal over the line.

The verdict: Gift horse in the mouth

At the mooted asking price, passing up the opportunity to bring a player of Rabiot’s calibre to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would be a major oversight.

This season, the versatile star has earned a 6.98 average match rating whilst making 1.9 tackles, winning 5.6 duels and completing 1.4 successful dribbles per game across 28 league outings (Sofascore), showing the all-rounded and versatile skill-set which has found him a place in some of Europe’s top sides.

Antonie Conte currently has only Harry Winks, Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg available as frontline central midfield options, and would therefore surely jump at the chance to add the decorated Rabiot to the Lilywhites’ ranks, potentially as a replacement for Winks.

Ryan Sessegnon is on thin ice at Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur flop Ryan Sessegnon may have blown his final chance under Antonio Conte…

Early bath

The 21-year-old winger was substituted just 28 minutes into Spurs’ 2-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday after an absolutely disastrous start to the game.

It was seemingly for tactical reasons as the Italian’s outfit had conceded both goals within the opening 18 minutes but it’s a rather damning sign for a player that has endured a torrid time since his £25m move from Fulham in 2019.

Final chance blown?

Sessegnon’s first appearance under Conte saw him receive his marching orders after two quickfire bookings against NS Mura in the Europa Conference League. It was his first start since August and last weekend was his second appearance since that incident.

He clumsily put in a mistimed challenge after 11 minutes before catching another player chasing a loose ball, leaving the referee with no option but to send him off.

The young dynamo, who is now valued at just £13.5m by Transfermarkt, has flattered to deceive in what game time he’s received, failing to play the full duration of the game in any of his ten appearances across all competitions since his return from his loan spell at Hoffenheim.

22 appearances in nearly three years for a £25m signing is just not good enough and the fact that he was withdrawn early on Sunday suggests that the trend isn’t going to change anytime soon.

In the 28 minutes he was on the pitch against Wolves, the England U21 internatinonal committed two fouls, won just one of four duels (25%) and lost possession five times from 15 touches, as per SofaScore, so it’s unlikely that he would’ve been kept on for much longer regardless of Conte’s tactical decision.

Once dubbed a “big, big talent” by former Cottagers teammate Stefan Johansen, it appears as if Sessegnon is running out of time to convince the Italian of his qualities going forward.

Liverpool Carvalho move looks ‘less likely’

Liverpool reporter Carl Markham has shared a somewhat pessimistic update on the Reds’ pursuit of Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho.

The lowdown

Sky Sports’ Vinny O’Connor reported on Sunday that Liverpool had tabled a £5m bid for the Fulham starlet, and Fabrizio Romano followed that up by revealing that Jurgen Klopp’s side would hold fresh talks with the Cottagers on Monday morning.

According to Markham, though, it’s ‘now or never’ for Liverpool as the clock winds down towards the transfer deadline.

Carvalho is out of contract at the end of the current season, so the transfer fee would be determined by a tribunal if the 19-year-old leaves in the summer. The club know that any European suitors would be ‘in a much stronger position’ to snap him up at that point.

The latest

Markham tweeted at 11am Monday morning: “As it currently stands completing a deal for Fabio Carvalho today looks less likely than it may have done 24 hours ago.”

This followed on from an earlier tweet of: “Seems like it is now or never in @LFC’s chase of Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho. Club not keen to go through the compensation tribunal process again in the summer, especially with European clubs in a much stronger position to sign player for a fraction of cost of any fee set by a panel”.

The verdict

How much will Liverpool push for Carvalho? Does they view this as an opportunity they can’t afford to miss? That’s what we’ll find out in the coming hours.

Liverpool have already offered Fulham some concessions, reportedly agreeing to send him back to west London on loan for the remainder of the season so that he can aid the Cottagers’ promotion push. On top of that, though, they may need to fork out more money.

You wonder if Fulham are adding a premium to their demands after receiving just £1.7m for Harvey Elliott in 2019. Indeed, his Transfermarkt value has since risen to £13.5m, so the Championship leaders may have wised up after the last time they sold a teenage starlet to Liverpool.

In other news, Neil Jones dropped several transfer claims on the morning of Deadline Day.
