Uma grande confusão envolvendo torcedores da Universidad de Chile e a Polícia Militar marcou o jogo de estreia do Corinthians na Copa Sul-Americana, nesta quarta-feira, na Arena de Itaquera. Cerca de 30 minutos antes de a bola rolar, pedaços de assentos do setor de visitantes do estádio do Timão foram arremessados em direção aos setores Leste Inferior e Sul, onde estavam os torcedores da equipe brasileira. O problema voltou a se repetir no intervalo, quando os PMs partiram para cima dos visitantes e entraram em confronto.

A área da torcida chilena estava ocupada quase em sua totalidade e, segundo profissionais de imprensa do país, entre 800 e mil pessoas se deslocaram de Santiago (CHI) a São Paulo para a partida.

Na primeira briga, após os momentos de tensão com o quebra-quebra de cadeiras e o revide de corintianos, que atiraram os assentos de volta, a Polícia Militar agiu na contenção. Acuados no início da ação, os policiais controlaram a situação e aumentaram a área de isolamento entre os corintianos e os torcedores rivais.

No intervalo, porém, a proporção dos conflitos foi maior. Após serem atingidos, policiais desceram até a arquibancada e atingiram os chilenos com cacetadas. Os chilenos ficaram acuados e mais da metade deles deixou a Arena antes do início do segundo tempo.

Pouco antes do início da partida, os torcedores chilenos também acenderam sinalizadores no setor visitante da Arena, o que é proibido pela Conmebol. Durante a execução do Hino Nacional os corintianos tiveram a mesma atitude,, que é passível de punição.

Ainda não há informações detalhadas a respeito dos danos à Arena Corinthians.

Southampton moving for Atalanta and Denmark star Joakim Maehle is unlikely to happen, says former Saints midfielder Carlton Palmer.

Maehle impressed at the Euros for Denmark, with the full-back managing to score a couple of goals as his country made it to the semi-finals of the competition.

He is now being linked with a move away from the Gewiss Stadium and Southampton are one side who are thought to be interested in his services.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the Saints have already made an approach to sign the player, who Atalanta value at €28m (£24m).

Based on the 24-year-old’s performances at the Euros, he looks like he could be a good signing. However, at that price, it is a deal Palmer cannot see happening.

“I think it’s very unlikely,” the ex-Southampton player told FFC in an exclusive interview. “History says that they’re not spending that type of money.

“Southampton have relied heavily over the years on the fact that they’ve got a fantastic youth set-up and the conveyor belt of bringing players through, because they’ve just not been in the market to spend that type of money.”

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has made it clear in the past that he is likely to target players around the £10m mark this summer, so a move for Maehle does look unlikely.

Worcestershire County Cricket Club have announced plans to re-develop two stands at the Diglis End of the New Road County Ground in Worcester. A planning application has been submitted to the City Council for the £450,000 project and it is hoped the project will be completed in time for the 2003 season.Sport England, under the Safer Sports Ground programme, have confirmed a grant of up to £200,000 towards the project.The re-development will increase seating capacity by over 700 and include a new scoreboard, bar and refreshment facilities, toilets and facilities for the disabled.Chief Executive, Mark Newton, explains "Our facilities for the public are in need of an upgrade and new legislation means we currently fall below the guidelines required for disabled access and viewing. This development will enable us to meet these new standards and provide much improved viewing for the public. This year’s day/night match saw a capacity crowd and we believe the introduction of 20/20 cricket next season will attract big audiences. New Road is without doubt one of the most beautiful grounds in the world and we believe the design of the new stands will ensure the unique charms of the ground are retained."

Rafael Benitez can win over Everton supporters by defeating Liverpool in the first Merseyside derby of the season, says former Toffees defender Michael Ball.

Some Everton fans were far from happy with the club’s decision to appoint Benitez as manager following his spell with their city rivals.

During that time, the Spaniard called Everton a “small club”, comments which he has since clarified.

However, he will have to do more than that if he is to win over all of the Evertonians, and Ball believes beating his old side could go a long way towards accomplishing that.

In an exclusive interview with FFC, the ex-Everton full-back said:

“I think the big question mark is when obviously the first Merseyside derby comes along. How does he set up? Is he positive enough? Do we get a positive result?

“If that happens and he turns them over, I think a lot of Blues will start to back him a bit more. You know, some fans are saying that they won’t even turn up at Goodison Park. I think they’ll start coming back if that happens.” 

The first league encounter between the two sides will take place in November, with Everton welcoming their neighbours.

As for the beginning of the campaign, the Toffees have some very favourable fixtures. They do not play anyone from last season’s top six until the start of October, a trip to Manchester United, so Benitez has a chance to build some real momentum here.

O técnico do Corinthians, Fabio Carille, ganha quatro reforços nesta terça-feira. O zagueiro Léo Santos, o lateral-esquerdo Guilherme Arana, o volante Maycon e o atacante Léo Jabá, que estavam com a Seleção Sub-20 disputando o Sul-Americano da categoria no Equador, se reapresentarão no CT Joaquim Grava.

Devido à carência de atacantes no elenco, Léo Jabá deve ser relacionado para a partida contra o Novorizontino, nesta quarta-feira, na Arena . Ele ainda será avaliado pela comissão técnica, mas foi deixado de sobreaviso na última segunda-feira, quando voltou ao Brasil ao lado dos companheiros.

No último sábado, além do titular Jô, o Timão contava somente com Kazim e Romero. O turco pode até mesmo ser titular nesta quarta caso Marlone não se recupere de dores musculares na coxa esquerda.

A tendência é que os outros três garotos que estavam na Seleção sejam preservados da partida, já que atuam em posições com mais alternativas disponíveis no elenco alvinegro. Além disso, eles vinham como titulares na competição no Equador, enquanto Jabá estava no banco.

Apontada como uma das favoritas ao título do Sul-Americano sub-20, a equipe canarinho terminou o torneio na penúltima colocação do hexagonal final e nem sequer conseguiu uma vaga na Copa do Mundo da categoria.

يرى معتصم سالم لاعب الإسماعيلي ومنتخب مصر السابق، أن البرتغالي كارلوس كيروش يعد سبب عدم التأهل إلى كأس العالم المُقبل، قطر 2022.

وفشل منتخب مصر في التأهل إلى نهائيات كأس العالم لحساب السنغال بركلات الجزاء الترجيحية، وأعلن اتحاد الكرة أول أمس الأحد، انهاء التعاقد مع كيروش.

وقال معتصم سالم في تصريحات لبرنامج “بوكس تو بوكس” عبر فضائية “etc”: “كيروش لم يقدم شيئًا للكرة المصرية خلال فترة تواجده مع المنتخب، ولم يستفد منه اللاعبون”.

وعن فكرة تعيين المدرب السويسري رينيه فايلر مدرب الأهلي السابق لخلافة كيروش، علق معتصم: “فايلر رحل عن مصر بطريقة سيئة جدًا، ولم تعجبه الحياة هنا؛ لذلك أرفض تعيينه مدربًا للفراعنة”.

وأشار إلى رغبته في تقديم خطة لتطوير كرة القدم المصرية، وربط المنتخبات الوطنية بطريقة لعب واحدة، لنتمكن من جني ثمار هذا العمل بعد فترة.

واختتم: “لا يهمني اسم المدير الفني الجديد لمنتخب مصر أو جنسيته، لكن أتمنى وضع خطة ينفذها الأشخاص الذين سيتولون مسؤولية إدارة المنتخبات الوطنية فنيًا”.

يذكر أن اتحاد الكرة برئاسة جمال علام، سيجتمع اليوم الثلاثاء، من أجل حسم ملف المدير الفني الجديد لمنتخب مصر.

The Mirror claimed that the Irons are one of three Premier League clubs eyeing up a move for the Burnley striker ahead of the summer transfer window, which is set to open on Wednesday.

Aston Villa and Everton are also said to be monitoring his situation, with the latter waiting to see whether their next manager wants to pursue a deal or not.

The Clarets will not want to lose such an integral player, especially as he has two years to run on his current contract at Turf Moor, but every player has his price and it’s thought that Wood is valued in the region of £30m, as per Football Insider.

Moyes’ next Ferguson

Football Insider added that David Moyes is a huge admirer of the 29-year-old because of his physicality, finishing ability and knack for spearheading the attack.

This should come as no surprise, though, as every club the Scotsman has managed has had a player of this calibre – an aggressive and in-your-face target man.

The most famous example is Duncan Ferguson at Goodison Park, where Moyes’ fellow countryman played 108 times across five seasons under him before working alongside him in a coaching capacity.

Wood has been a prolific goalscorer in the English top flight in recent seasons, hitting double figures in each of his last four campaigns, including a tally of 14 goals in 32 appearances during 2019/20, via Transfermarkt.

Premier League record scorer Alan Shearer knows a thing or two about scoring goals in the big time and he’s a big fan of Wood, too.

“I like him, I like what he does for the team and he is the focal point for them He is very good at occupying two centre-halves,” claimed the former Newcastle and Blackburn talisman, via Lancs Live, before adding: “He can keep hold of it and bring other players into the game. He is horrible to play against and he won’t give defenders a moment’s peace.”

Wood has also been described as a “natural goalscorer” by his former boss Garry Monk, as well as someone who is “frightening” to come up against by old Milwall teammate Scott Malone, so there are plenty of reasons why the 1.91m (6 foot 3) powerhouse could fit Moyes’ eye.

It’s no secret that the 58-year-old will be absolutely desperate for another striker this summer, having lost Sebastian Haller during the January transfer window with no backup in sight.

The Irons cannot afford to go into the new season with just Michail Antonio as a centre-forward option, so the vastly experienced 56-cap New Zealand international could well be a shrewd piece of business if West Ham pull it off.

GSB must look to sanction this deal as Moyes may well unearth his next Duncan Ferguson at the London Stadium.

Both Wolves and Nuno Espirito Santo are yet to find their next path on their journey in football and when the former boss finds his new challenge, Wolves legend Steve Bull believes that some players may want to follow him.

Nuno was reportedly not actively looking to get straight back into management, however, since Carlo Ancelotti’s unexpected departure from Everton and following talks with Crystal Palace, the former Wolves manager has been strongly linked with a quick return to the Premier League

It would be a different sort of challenge for Nuno as he would be operating without the help of Jorge Mendes in the transfer market but he could have a lot more money to spend, which could see him raid his former club.

There has been a lot of managers linked with both the Everton and Palace job but Wolves fans will be hoping it isn’t Nuno because he had such a strong bond with the squad that he could potentially look to tempt them away from Molineux, something Bull exclusively told Football FanCast:

“It could be like a can of worms now because wherever Nuno goes he could end up taking one or two players with him.”

Someone that Wolves are reportedly willing to sell this money is Ruben Neves, despite him being the main focal point in their side. Wolves are willing to do business at around the £35 million price mark this summer.

The money would hopefully be put back into the first team and allow them to improve the overall side with a couple of additions at the cost of selling one of their star players.
