Túlio Maravilha vive expectativa de estreia e planeja 'gol de superação'

MatériaMais Notícias

Aposentadoria?

– Duas coisas me motivaram a voltar a jogar: a primeira é que sou movido a desafios.

Narine takes West Indies A to one-wicket win

West Indies A scrambled to a one-wicket win as the last pair of Sunil Narine and Nelon Pascal denied Bangladesh A with a 17-run stand that gave the hosts the two-match series 1-0

ESPNcricinfo staff15-Nov-2011
ScorecardWest Indies A scrambled to a one-wicket win as the last pair of Sunil Narine and Nelon Pascal denied Bangladesh A with a 17-run stand. The win meant West Indies A won the two-match series 1-0. Bangladesh were almost out of the game when Danza Hyatt and Jonathan Carter were going strong in an 83-run stand that had taken West Indies to 156 for 3 in their chase of 214.Robiul Islam and Suhrawadi Shuvo brought Bangladesh right back, striking twice each in quick succession. Hyatt went caught behind to Shuvo for 62 while Carter was trapped leg-before by Robiul for 55. Devon Thomas and Andre Russell followed soon and Bangladesh were now favourites at 175 for 7. Narine kept West Indies afloat but Sohag Gazi struck at the other end to reduce them to 200 for 9. With 14 still needed, No. 11 Pascal hit a six and a four to take West Indies to victory with Narine unbeaten on 26. Narine’s effort followed his unbeaten 40 that lifted West Indies from 60 for 7 to 129 in the first innings. The sides will play two unofficial Twenty20 internationals and three unofficial ODIs with the first game on November 18 in St. Lucia.

Nottinghamshire release Akhil Patel

Akhil Patel has been released by Nottinghamshire following confirmation that the left-handed opener will not be offered a new deal at Trent Bridge. Patel, the younger brother of England international Samit, has struggled to move out of Nottinghamshire’s second XI since signing a two-year contract in 2009.”Akhil has made some good scores in our second eleven and league cricket but he hasn’t scored the volume of runs in the championship that would warrant extending his contract with us,” explained Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell. Patel made just three Championship appearances in 2011, managing a high score of 24.A mirror image of his brother with the bat, Patel scored plenty of runs at junior levels and, along with Derbyshire colleague Tom Poynton, was part of the ECB Under-17 squad for the midlands in July 2007. He had re-joined Nottinghamshire in 2009, having left the club’s academy to join Derbyshire where he made his first-class debut in 2007.

Easy wins for Denmark and Italy

A round-up of the first day’s action from the European Under-19 Championship Division Two

ESPNcricinfo staff28-Jul-2011Denmark got off to an impressive start in the European Under-19 Championship Division Two, thumping Belgium by 168 runs in Castletown. Having been put in to bat, Denmark’s openers put together a stubborn 61-run opening stand, but Belgium hit back with two wickets for the addition of no runs. Hamid Shah, however, changed the complexion of the game with a busy 110-run stand with Anders Bulow. Shah stroked 70 off 72 balls, while opener Bulow was more cautious in making 78 off 110 balls. Basit Raja and Siddique Raja ensured Denmark got a flying finish, contributing 40 and 33 respectively in quick time. Chasing 303, Belgium fell behind the eight-ball steadily following a 27-run opening stand. Hameed helped himself to a five-wicket haul, while Aqeel Amjad finished with 3 for 19 off ten stifling overs. With no batsman managing to pass 30, Belgium folded without a fight in 33 overs. After France were bowled out for 183 in the 47th over, they would not have expected to win the match by a margin of over 100 runs. However, Israel crumbled in a shocking display that lasted less than 20 overs, handing France a 128-run win in Mullen-e-Cloie. Batting first, France stumbled to their sub-par total due to the inability of their batsmen to build on starts. Six batsmen were dismissed for scores between 14 and 29, as they kept losing steam through an underwhelming batting effort. Nir Dokarker, Itamar Kehimkar and Josh Evans finished with two wickets apiece, leaving Israel with what seemed like a manageable chase. Their openers pushed the score to 18 for 0 before things went pear-shaped in a hurry. Shifron Waskar (10) was the only batsmen to get into double-figures, as the French bowlers skittled Israel out for 55, with Zika Ali the most impressive with figures of 4 for 5 in 3.1 overs.Italy cruised to a 171-run win against Germany in another one-sided affair in Tromode. The win was built around captain and opener Roshendra Abeywickrama’s sparkling 156 at just under a run-a-ball. He shared a 95-run opening stand with Abdur Bhuiyan to set up the innings and though none of the other Italy batsmen managed to contribute substantially, they ensured the innings never lost momentum. Abeywickrama hit 15 fours in his innings before becoming the Italian ninth wicket to fall. Mansor Mubarik’s four-wicket haul did not really stall Italy’s progress since it came at an uneconomical 7.66 runs per over. Germany’s chase of 288 fizzled away in the face of some incisive new-ball bowling, and they stumbled to 116 all-out in the 34th over. The other encounters of the day were so one-sided that they made Spain’s 85-run humbling of Gibraltar in Castletown the closest finish of the day. Gibraltar began brilliantly thanks to opening bowler Matthew Hunter, whose efforts helped reduce Spain to 2 for 0 and later 27 for 5. Spain then launched a stirring recovery through their captain Joel Brook and No. 7 Charlie Cook. Brook was cautious in his approach, making 82 off 134 balls, but Cook was adventurous in his 51 that came at better than run-a-ball. The pair added 95 to haul their side out of the woods, before Guy Dumas skittled out the tail, leaving Brook undefeated. Hunter, who finished with a five-for opened the batting as well, but he proved to be no Rock of Gibraltar. Opening bowlers Jack Sunderland and Ben Girling rocked the chase early with a flurry of wickets that left Gibraltar gasping at 43 for 6. Philip DJ Dumas provided some late resistance, but it was only a matter of time before Gibraltar succumbed for 97 in under 25 overs, with extras contributing 26.

Man Utd make offer for Ousmane Dembele

Manchester United have made an offer to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, according to El Chiringuito journalist Darío Montero (via Sport Witness).

The lowdown: Big-money player

Signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for what was then second-biggest transfer fee in world football (£135.5m, as per BBC), Dembele has struggled to recapture his best form in Catalunya.

Despite directly contributing to 64 goals in 147 outings for the Spanish giants, the 24-year-old has also missed 96 matches through a variety of injury issues since arriving at Camp Nou.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-man-utd-news/” title=”Latest Man Utd news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

With Dembele set to become a free agent at the end of the season (Transfermarkt), a fresh update has emerged from Spain…

The latest: Offer made for Dembele

As per Montero, as translated by Sport Witness, the Red Devils and Paris Saint-Germain are both keen on signing the 2018 World Cup winner.

It is claimed that United are ‘offering’ Dembele a salary between €10m and €15m (£8.4m-£12.6m) per year.

Hailed as an ‘exceptional player’ by team-mate Dani Alves upon the Brazilian right-back’s return to the La Liga club, the 27-cap forward could yet remain at Barcelona should Xavi and the club act quickly.

The verdict: Worth the risk

It is an undoubted gamble to pay such high wages to a player who is so prone to injury, but without the expenditure of a transfer fee, the signing of Dembele has the potential to be a masterstroke for United if they can pull it off.

So far this season, the versatile forward has scored twice and provided 11 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, highlighting his wizardry with a league-high 2.8 successful dribbles completed per match whilst earning the second-highest overall rating in La Liga with 7.61 (Sofascore).

Considering that the Spanish top flight is Europe’s second-highest ranked league in UEFA’s association club coefficient, it is no mean feat to be a performance leader at that level of football.

Incoming United manager Erik ten Hag will have to choose between Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga and Marcus Rashford for the wide attacking berths at present, leaving ample room for a player of Dembele’s proven quality.

Celtic: Ange must axe Bitton vs Hibs

Ange Postecgolou’s Celtic side return to Premiership action tomorrow, with a challenging trip to Hibernian on the cards for the 56-year-old’s Bhoys side – who are looking to extend their three-point lead at the top of the table.

And, following the Hoops’ 2-0 Europa Conference League defeat to Bodo/Glimt on Thursday, with Celtic losing the tie 5-1 on aggregate, the Greek-Australian coach will undoubtedly be hoping for a much-improved performance from his players at Easter Road.

Indeed, there are a number of players who, following their display against the Norwegian minnows, would appear to be at risk of dropping out of Postecoglou’s starting XI on Sunday – none more so than defensive midfielder Nir Bitton.

Postecoglou must axe Bitton

While it was not only the Israel international who was well below-par against Bodo/Glimt, with the likes of Tom Rogic, Matt O’Riley, Daizen Maeda and Liam Scales all having games to forget on Thursday, the 30-year-old will undoubtedly have been extremely disappointed with his personal performance in the middle of the park.

Indeed, over his 90 minutes on the pitch, the £720k-rated man was ineffectual in defensive midfield, losing possession of the ball on 17 separate occasions – with only Scales ceding possession more for the Bhoys – and being dribbled past by an opponent twice – with only O’Riley being beaten more times than Bitton.

These returns contributed to the £15k-per-week Israeli earning a SofaScore match rating of just 6.8, while the Daily Record’s Michael Gannon awarded the 30-year-old a five in his own player ratings, as well as stating of Bitton’s display: “Wanted too much time on the ball and got caught out too many times.”

However, it was not only Gannon unimpressed with the former FC Ashdod man in midweek, with Bhoys Analytics stating their belief during the match that Postecoglou should “hook Bitton now it’s just sad,” while The Cynic also claimed that “Bitton has played like this is a Sports Relief match.”

As such, with Celtic in desperate need of a confidence-boosting win over Hibs on Sunday, the 56-year-old Hoops manager simply must axe the player once dubbed a “walking joke” by Bhoys Analytics, or else he could well cost his side their crucial advantage in the Premiership title race.

Wolves’ Ait-Nouri impressed vs Arsenal

After securing a 2-1 win against Leicester City at the weekend, Wolves were on the wrong end of the same scoreline in their midweek Premier League clash against Arsenal.

Having taken the lead in the early stages of the first half through winger Hwang Hee-chan thanks to a misplaced pass from Gunners defender Gabriel, Bruno Lage’s side ultimately walked away with nothing after two goals from the home side through Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette right at the death secured the comeback and all three points in a heartbreaking defeat.

Despite the gutting result, one player in a Wolves shirt, aside from Hwang, stood out with a rather positive performance against Mikel Arteta’s side was full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Having played through the entire match, the Frenchman managed to have 62 touches of the ball and complete 27 accurate passes with one key pass in a shining display in north London.

The 20-year-old, who has been praised in the past for his “phenomenal” performances in an Old Gold shirt by Tim Spiers, also managed to successfully complete all three dribbles he attempted, showing how exciting he is when advancing forward.

In addition to this, the youngster also managed to show how impressive he can be from a defensive point of view by making four clearances, three tackles and one interception, as well as winning 77% of the duels he was involved in while not getting dribbled past once.

This display ultimately earned the wing-back an overall match rating of 7.1/10, making him one of Wolves’ highest-rated players on the day according to SofaScore.

Birmingham Live also picked up on his efforts on this occasion by saying in their report on the game that he “did make an impact going forward.”

With 15 league appearances to his name this term, WhoScored currently have the Frenchman listed as the highest-rated player in Lage’s squad with an overall performance rating of 7.12/10, showing how impressive he has been throughout the campaign.

Moving forward, the best thing the Midlands club can do now would be to put this defeat behind them and hope that they can move forward positively as a team if they want to have any chance of securing European football for next season.

Wolves not in for Ramsey transfer

Wolves and every other Premier League club only have hours left to conduct any late business before the 2022 January transfer window closes.

However, it seems as though Wolves fans can forget about seeing their club sign one player in particular that has been mentioned with a move to Molineux in the past few weeks that will be a very familiar face to a lot of Premier League followers.

What’s the news?

In a recent post on BBC Sport’s deadline day live update tracker, journalist Simon Stone had this to say on Wolves’ reported interest in signing Juventus and former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

He said: “There have been rumours of a Wolves move for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey. Ramsey has been frozen out in Italy and is open to returning to the Premier League. But I have been told Wolves are not one of the clubs expressing an interest.”

Having racked up 371 appearances for Arsenal in which he managed to score 65 goals and provide 65 assists, the 31-year-old joined Juventus in the 2019 summer transfer window.

Since then, the midfielder has made 70 appearances for the Serie A side with six goals and six assists under his belt but has now found himself apparently looking for a new club with Juventus aiming to move him on.

Fans will be gutted

Taking into account the amount of experience the Welshman has in terms of playing in the Premier League and the Champions League as well as winning trophies throughout his career, there will be some Wolves fans out there that will be gutted to hear that their club aren’t looking to bring the midfielder back to England.

After all, this is someone who would not only improve their depth in the centre of the pitch, but add a considerable amount of quality too. He has 40 goals and 51 assists during his Premier League career, suggesting he’d be a big signing for Lage and co.

However, with Wolves having the unflappable midfield duo of Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho in their squad as well as having Leander Dendoncker and Luke Cundle as backup options, there is an argument to suggest that this isn’t the worst news in the world.

With that in mind, the club may be better off looking at other options if they do want to bring a new player in before the deadline.
